Week 4: Aesthetics, Design & Branding

Negative Websites:

Website: http://www.pennyjuice.com/

Potential Issues:

1. If you do not have a flash player the website will look blank.
2. Rainbow background may make things difficult to read.
3. When looking at the map you are unable to zoom in to see where exactly those locations are.

Improvements: This site should choose a cohesive theme. The website looks very outdated and could use an updated look. They should work on changing fonts so that it is readable. Also, they need to choose a format that can be viewed from any computer. This website makes me anxious because it is difficult to navigate.

Website: http://gatesnfences.com/

Potential Issues:

1. Options on the side of the website are long and tedious to go through.
2. Too much written information on one page.
3. Address and website name blend together on home page, making it difficult to read.

Improvements: This site should condense their options and simplify information. They need to create a more aesthetically appealing webpage and obtain better photography. This website is difficult to look at and it is hard to find the information sought.

Positive Websites:

Website: https://www.toyota.com/

What have they done right: Their website is cohesive and easy to read. It is easy to navigate and branding is strong throughout the site. Advertising is clear and aesthetically appealing. When looking at the other websites they ensued anxiety with all the information supplied. This site supplies just the right amount of information and explains things in a way the average person could understand.

Website: http://apple.com

What have they done right: This website is also appealing to the eye. They do not overload you with information and navigation is clear and easy to use. It is easy to find exactly what you are looking for on this site and the support line is easy to see if you would like further information. I feel relaxed when looking at this website because I know I will be able to find the information that I am looking for and I don't feel overwhelmed

Comments

  1. That's correct. The Apple website has professionally built, simple and gets straight to the point. The use of proper color and full-width images makes pleasing to the eye. Everything is easy to navigate and explore.

  2. In total agreement that www.pennyjuice.com looks outdated. I was not impressed at all and they would definitely benefit from a makeover.

I agree that www.gatesnfences.com is busy and cluttered. It surely does not provide a professional feel to it. It was so hard to focus and read because of the layout and content.

Toyota and Apple are the sites I chose as well for the two I liked the most. Content was well laid out, great images, eye catching and overall pleasing to the eye.
