Week 4: Post 2

I visit Amazon.com very frequently because I buy a lot of items through this website. This is an effective website because it is easy to use and an efficient site. There are many principles of good design throughout the website. First, the website is cohesive with their brand. The search bar at the top makes it easy to search any item I would like to purchase. This website also offers suggestions for you based on your past purchases. Also, all the information is listed out for you when you are shopping. You can see the price, who you are purchasing from, and how much shipping will be. I keep coming back to this site because it is easy for me to purchase products and I am able to receive these products quickly. One thing that could be improved is they could offer more items from small shops rather than just larger vendors. Overall, this site functions great and I love navigating through it.

I am on Pinterest very often for work and for personal purposes. This is an effective site because it gives inspiration in an easy to navigate format. I enjoy the design because everything is laid out for you visually. Similar to Instagram, you can scroll through the pictures and find something at is aesthetically stimulating. You can browse through categories or even search for something specific. I keep coming back to this site because it inspires me. I also use this site for work because I am able to advertise our product through this site. We have successfully gained prospective residents through this site and it has been great for moving traffic to our main website. If I could improve one thing on this website it would be that there are times when you find a product you like however, it does not link out successfully to the product’s website. There are also times when you think you could buy an item however, the link leads to someone’s blog and it becomes difficult to find that item again. Overall, this product is successful because it is great for advertising and for finding quality inspiration.

My company did not actually have a Twitter account created so this exercise helped my company become established with this method of Social Media. I am going to begin growing this avenue as I have with our other social media efforts. Through this exercise, I created two separate lists however, made them private since this will now be my business twitter account. I made one for Mira Costa and made another for vendors that we use. In the Mira Costa one I added myself and our class account. In the Vendors list I added Rooof and Updater. I could see how this would help us grow our goal because we are able to sort out which conversations we want to get involved in. We can create lists for potential residents and jump into those conversations. We can even see what vendors are doing and we can become privy to the latest technology. Week 15: Part 2

Looking at Facebook Analytics and Post Insights can reveal many interesting facts about our social media presence. From looking at my last 5 posts on our page I can see that the posts with the most engagement are the ones that share company information, rather than fun holiday posts. This week our followers went up 300% compared to past weeks however, our engagement dropped 44%. This is interesting to see that even though we have more followers, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are engaging with our page. This has shown me that we need to include more content that the user will be interested in, rather than what we are interested in creating. The suggested pages in our insights are not similar to our industry. However, it looks like they are businesses in a close proximity to where our address has stated.
