Week 5: Post 2

The company I am using for my studies is the company I work for, Wasatch Property Management. Our target demographic for a majority of our standard properties is 20-30 year olds, just starting in their careers. Older individuals tend to be more established however, young adults are typically just starting out and they don’t always have the funds to afford a home right out of college or even during college. Our company owns 65 properties and some of these properties are tax credit communities. This means discounted rent for those who qualify, at these communities. Our target demographic in these situations would be individuals who are not making a great amount of income, that will qualify through the state. We also own a few luxury properties. For these properties, our target demographic is individuals who are making higher income and can afford the price of these types of apartments. These individuals may not desire to buy a home for landscaping purposes. They may enjoy the services of apartment life but desire to maintain a higher standard of living.

I also work very closely with our recruiting manager. We are not only marketing for our properties but we are also marketing our company to potential employees. Our target market for employees would be educated, sales oriented individuals who are motivated and strive for excellence. In the past we have hired administrative oriented individuals who are unmotivated to sell the apartment. We are aiming to change this misconception and start hiring individuals who can not only stay organized but also sell the product. Therefore, our target market includes these types of individuals.
