Week 8: Part 2
I think that visual media helps in my industry but it does not completely propel our business forward. Since we are a property management company, we don’t have an engaging product to photograph. We could photograph our properties, residents, or employees however, it can become a challenge to not make it completely look like an advertisement.
I think cohesiveness is an important aspect to any visually centered platform. Irvine Company Property Management has cohesive branding however, their aesthetic is not as cohesive. Their posts on Instagram don’t seem to have much engagement, despite their follow count which is high for our industry. However, it looks like residents are sending in photos to be featured which could be considered engagement. They are posting every day, about once a day and their latest post was 7 hours ago. Their company has 2,186 followers on Instagram however, their photos receive and average of 20-50 likes per post. It also doesn’t look like they receive many comments on each post. On Pinterest they have 662 followers which is high however, it doesn’t seem like they have any consistent branding on this platform or personalized posts. Although they are not super engaged with followers, it seems that this company is one of the more successful brands for this industry.
On Instagram this Lincoln Property Management has about 473 followers, which is significantly less than Irvine Company. They are not posting consistently, with their last being from mid April. It looks like they were receiving 2-3 comments per post, which shows a bit more engagement. The types of photos they are posting are property photos and employee photos. On Pinterest they have about 612 followers which is close to what Irvine Company had. It is interesting that they have more Pinterest followers than Instagram followers. They are also posting more brand specific content on this platform which is good to see. One thing they could do to improve is to post on a more consistent basis. Then they may receive more engagement. I like that they post employee photos because that may boost employee morale.
Alliance Property Management has only 67 Instagram followers and only 6 posts on their feed. Their last post was from last December and it is clearly not an effective platform for them, since they are not utilizing it. They could improve their engagement by posting and getting involved in their social media on a consistent basis.
San Diego Property Management has 558 followers on Instagram which is a decent number. Their last post was 4 hours ago which shows that they are actively engaged. It looks like they are posting property and employee photos about 3-4 times a week. It seems that they have good engagement with 3-6 comments on each post. One thing they could do to improve is to have more brand cohesiveness on their page. They also only have 2 followers on Pinterest, which is a site they should be utilizing.
