Week 13: Researching Advertising

Irvine Company Apartments: This site does not appear to use any boosted or paid social media ads. I even checked to see if they may have different Facebook pages for their properties however, they only have the corporate page and it looks like they are not doing any type of social media ads on Facebook or Twitter.

Fairfield Property Management: This site also does not use any type of social ads and their content looks a bit less visually appealing. While Irvine Company’s posts looked very staged, these posts had a more realistic element to them. However, they could still have room for improvement. This site however, does not use ads for their sales techniques.

Grace Hill: This is a vendor we use in our industry for our online training. This site does use ads in order to appeal to more customers. On Facebook they are running ads with a deal that are visually appealing, use a call to action, and create a sense of urgency.

Updater: This is another service that we use in our industry. This site has much specialized content throughout their social media page however, does not use social media ads as a strategy to gain more sales.

Apartments.com: This is a website that showcases many different apartment communities. Upon looking at their social media pages it is clear that they do use ads to boost business. They post ads advertising certain communities and offering deals on these locations. These ads do look visually effective however, look redundant because they use too many of the same type of ads.

Conclusion: Social media ads can be effective when used in a proper manner. The sites that I looked at do not seem to be using this tool effectively. At our company, we have different Facebook pages per each property and we run Facebook ads through each one of them. These have proven to be slightly successful in our industry, but not as much as other efforts. This shows that this is a great method of advertising however, not the only one we should be relying on. As of right now I think that traditional marketing may be best for our industry however, the market is constantly changing and it seems as if Facebook is an avenue that is growing for us and will soon become a higher source of discovering leads.
